Panama City Newspaper Highlights FTS Mission

Tree of Life comes down, but the need remains

PANAMA CITY — Another holiday season at its close means taking down the Christmas tree. The Tree of Life that stands in the Bay County Library lobby will come down this week, but Florida Tissue Services hopes the goal of its tree-hanging efforts will carry the program through a successful 2010. Little squares of paper and photographs hang as a tribute to those who gave the ultimate gift — the gift of life. Homemade ornaments, large blue balls and silver ribbon decorate the 12-foot tall evergreen. Library patrons might notice the accompanying poster hanging near the tree and if they stop to take in the meaning, the message rises above Christmas gaiety.
